RTU Visual Arts 2014

My class has just been dismissed and I was rushing to get back to our dormitory, need an hour or two of sleep because I have work-shift later on. 'till I saw these illustration boards posted on a black curtain at our university's food kiosk... WOW ! these got me "WOWed!"

These group of young girls and guys have captivated the students' attention with their artworks.

I spent around 3 minutes looking at their artworks and this caught my attention at a first glance, talked to one of the creators of these artworks - Shemka, and to my surprise, she is the one who drew this beautiful work. I complemented her actually and I signed for the registration, this is totally for free!

What I told her is, "your work captivated my eyes, as the little girl on that drawing seems to have something to tell. I actually thought about street kids who are selling sampaguitas along the busy city roads, avenues, hiways- overall, VERY EXPRESSIVE one!" (I still have a lot to add but I was rushing at that time and she was also busy, can't do the talking that much but I really wanna share my points to her art and complement her more, not really a critique hahaha) She seems to be overwhelmed and she put her palms on her chest and gave me a huge and warm smile. :)

As I surfed more along the other works, oh! it's all about FILIPINO CULTURE! :) I'm so proud of these guys 'cuz they are showcasing "The Filipino Culture" in an artistic twist!

I actually asked to take a group picture of them but unfortunately, they are all busy as bees buzzing along the university's hallway-kiosk-promenade.

On the other hand, t'was a pleasure that I was able to interview their president: Mr. Aljon Garcia, asked future plans and what are they moving/looking forward to.

Moreover, Mr. Garcia told me that they're going to have an exhibit in our school by the end week of September and it's going to be an open theme. Anything that his colleagues would like to showcase will be posted on the said exhibit. Asked the schedule, actually there is still an ongoing process and deadline of submission of entries for the said exhibit. They're going to display 'em all on 20-September-2014; ADMISSION IS TOTALLY FOR FREE ! :D yahoo !

I was actually stunned when he offered me, "You can also join us if you would like to...?" (suggesting but interrogative tone* offers--- woah, seems like he saw my interest with visual arts tho, *I just totally appreciate artworks and I always give/put some caption on each stroke of lines hahaha) I was like, *smile* "hahaha, I'm not that really good with that but I have a lot in mind- ideas to work on, can't put it on the 3D world HAHAHA) he said, "We can work on that." (wow! such motivation :)

He added, his colleagues have been through workshops in order to enhance their visual arts skills. I'd be more than glad to join but I really don't have so much time then :( working and spending 9-10hrs in office, 2 subjects in school from Tues-Sat, and I'm just having a maximum of 5hrs of sleep everyday :D I'm a cyborg ;D )

I really wanna share more complement and appreciation with the team who's handling this so I'm leaving all the credits to their org president (thank you for motivating me as well, looking forward to work with you guys if I have more time, why not submit some of my hidden artworks :p LMAO ) I will surely go to your exhibit and feature your artworks again! :D check for the future post for this event ! :D lalalalalalaaaaaalz
